We are the ladies of Cocojo. Let us introduce ourselves. We are Joannie and Kelly, two moms working hard to fulfill a dream.
How Cocojo came to be.
Joannie and Kelly have been friends for over 10 years and throughout that time Joannie has had a dream of building her own business. She eventually started putting together a plan for a bartending company unlike any other on the island. She created and gathered recipes during her many years of bartending. There were many beach days that the friends would discuss a partnership but the timing was not right with babies and other responsibilities. Fast forward to 2020, the world had shut down and the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, although terrible financially, gave the ladies of Cocojo time to think about their futures. It was time to come together and try to make something happen! So here they are today continuing to work hard and grow their business into something that they are truly proud of. They have a passion for using fresh locally grown ingredients and giving their clients a completely unique Bahamian cocktail experience. Creating crafted cocktails using fresh island ingredients is their specialty and their passion. Their attention to detail, fun vibe, friendship, and hard work ethic make these island gals the perfect team.
Meet Cocojo co-owner and bartender, Joannie, a.k.a Joey.
Joey is a native of Saguenay, Quebec in beautiful chilly Canada. She moved to the island 15 years ago after taking a leap of faith by accepting a job opportunity that would change her life. She never expected that she would fall in love with island life the way that she did. Not only did she fall in love with the island but fell in love with her now husband, Edney. They are happily married with two boys Anthony and James. They are also animal lovers with two cute cats. In their free time you will find Joey, Edney and their boys beaching and fishing.
Meet Cocojo co-owner and bartender, Kelly.
Kelly is a proud Bahamian and a native of Nassau, Bahamas. She has roots in Eleuthera and Abaco that date back to the 1600's. She made the decision to move to Eleuthera from the Bahamian Capital of Nassau to fulfill her dream of living on an Out Island. She lives on her family's farm complete with horses, chickens, goats, a pig, bee hives and many fruit trees. Kelly is mom to two boys, Nathan and Noah. They are an active family and enjoy traveling, adventure, their animals, and beaching.
